MEETING MINUTES

FEBRUARY 9 th, 2013

MEETING: Brought to order @ 9:05 :AM By President Jim Gillis

Member/visitors: 12 Members – Welcome to Mike Long N3YPA our Newest Member!

440 Repeater – For the time being the club will operate the repeater as uncoordinated but explore a used repeater that can more easily be programmed and then able to be more easily coordinated>
Old GE Master 2: Club voted to sell in order to use that money for a more versitle 440 (coordinatable) 440 repeater
ACTION:All members please let us know of available 440 repeaters for sale and AC8Ag will also ask N8FYZ For input on alternative thoughts or equipment availability

Club Radio Station: Next open Mike night is Tuesday February 25th @ 7PM – Roof leak over the Club is still being monitored with Station reassembly still “ to be scheduled “ AC8AG will contact KD8LZT and or KD8MNY for unused wall mountable & lockable cabinets.

10 Meter Net: Please check in with Jack (W8PPM) Wednesday evenings @ 8PM local – Freq: 28380 MHZ (alternate 28.390 or 28.370 MHZ if busy) Topic’s of interest are always welcome

VE Testing: Held @ the Allegan Hospital Cafeteria. Price is $15 + two forms of identification including a copy of Your current license (if You have one) – Contact AA8L for next test session information
Next testing scheduled on March 23rd @ 9AM

Allegan County ARPSC: Meeting February 21st, 2012 @ 9am @ the EOC- Subject to be announced

Allegan County SAR still needs Hams for their communications and more activity from members- Contact Ron KD8CHT – Meetings held every other Thursday @ 7PM – Next meeting @ 7Pm at the Dorr Fire Station.

Snow shoveling: Please sign up for Your week of snow removal @ the Red Cross Lawn – See Steve WD8MBT Or Dennis WB3LHU – February is covered but need coverage for March

Trunk Sales project; May 4th is now firm @ the Masonic Lodge in Allegan – Club discussion agrees that we will not provide food beyond Coffee and donuts . We have permission to use the downstairs for some sales tables and if necessary the entire selling group in case of inclement weather. AC8AG has started the flyers to be put out at the Marshall Ham fest –

ACTION: All members need to sign up for local repeater announcements to “drum up” attendance . AT the march meeting we will discuss who will announce what on which repeater & get member sign up for Trunk Sales duties, refine needs &etc
Thanks to Jeff W8JAS for exploring the cost and availability of Salem Township hall if the Masonic lodge fell thru .
ACTION: KD8DLP: If Possible we would appreciate You help with flyer printing as discussed at the Emergency Management Dinner

Technician Classes: The club will put a” hold” on the Technician Class needing more Volunteers to teach or help – If You can help with teaching or other duties please see AC8AG for additional information

Spaghetti Dinner Suggestion : by N8UYB – The club has the use of the Masonic Lodge & Kitchen but we need to “tag it on” to another event in the Allegan Area to insure success
Action: All Club members please keep your eyes out for possible events we could take advantage of :

Sky Warn Training: Hold April 13th @ 10Am at Luella Collins Community Center @ 419 126th street in Shelbyville

Tower Available: See W8JAS for specifics but what we think it is approximately 65’ Probably a Rohn, free standing and free to anyone who will take it down Located in GRR area

Soldering projects: KD8LZT will contact the person who gave a great soldering project at the Kalamazoo meeting recently and try to schedule them for the new year

CLUB DUES: FOR 2013 need to be paid to Nancy (KB8PFJ) at any time – $20/annual $10 for Seniors over 60
