July – Solar Eclipse project
August – Solar Eclipse project II (tentative, only if needed, otherwise potential results in September?) GeoFox hunt coming up in July/August

Brief description of upcoming project for July/August.  Locating a meeting place for these months to accommodate the project and size of club.  



An update given on recent 147.240 outage.  Power supply issue, it was replaced and equipment was reviewed to assess condition.  AC8AG would like to place 2 new fuses for quick replacement by the radio.

10 Meter Net?: Jack (W8PPM) invites all? to the Club Net held every Wednesday evening – 8PM local – Freq: 28.380 MHZ (alternate 28.390 or 28.370 MHZ if busy) Topics of interest welcomed!

“Young Person” Net? has started – Hosted by KE5ETX for all hams with children interested in becoming Hams or are already Hams –Next Youth Net scheduled on 7/4 at 7PM on the 147.240 repeater – Contact John (KE5ETX) for details and to suggest topics or offer help! Have a young child in your life? This is a great way to get them interested in the hobby!

VE Testing:? July 22, 2017 – 9AM @ the Allegan Hospital Cafeteria. Price is $15 + two forms of identification or a copy of your current license – Contact Randy MacNeill (W8RMN) for next test session information

Allegan County SAR? – Next meeting is scheduled for June 21 @ 6:30, place to be determined.  (ended to be 7:00 PM at Silver Creek County Park.)

Upcoming Events

Field Day, June 24-25, 2017- Club Picnic at 4:00 PM – bring a dish to pass. (Appended, setup at 9am and start at 1pm)

Lengthy discussion took place detailing what to expect at Field Day for the newest members.  Dennis confirmed he would cook, Steve and Nancy Motter confirmed they would get the food.  Motion to provide money to pay for food/S/C.

Spark in the Park – Aug 20, 8-12, located at the Homeschool building in Grand Rapids

Motion to create new club fliers and up to $50/S/C.  (after reviewing: $50 may not be enough to get a double-sided flier produced)


May 20th, Blessing of the Jeeps at the Allegan Airport.  Fly-in same day for pancake breakfast.


Does the club want to help with Jamboree on the Air (JOTA), October 20-22. Contact John Keith

Reminder – If you are about to renew or Join the ARRL our club has a chance to earn some extra money due to our ARRL affiliation. By submitting your membership moneys thru the club – We can keep either $2(renew) or $15 (New or not a member for 2 years) – Bring Your renewals and Check made out to the Allegan County Amateur Radio Club to the next meeting. WB3LHU has the forms if anyone is interested.

Additional Suggestions from 11-APR-2017 meeting included: Darren, through prompting from Shawn, how the inner workings of the radio work – Jim suggested block diagrams. Darren also asked about explaining Propagation. Wes asked about: Digital modes: PSK, JT65, Slow-scan TV. How to setup your equipment.
