COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Repeater:

147.240 – No new news. It is working

147.140 – Needs new controller, possibly replace radio(s) with “new” surplus

440 – Is it operational?

10 Meter Net?: Jack (W8PPM) invites all? to the Club Net held every Wednesday evening – 8PM local – Freq: 28.380 MHZ (alternate 28.390 or 28.370 MHZ if busy) Topics of interest welcomed!

“Young Person” Net? has started – Hosted by KE5ETX for all hams with children interested in becoming Hams or are already Hams –Next Youth Net scheduled on 9/5 at 7PM on the 147.240 repeater – Contact John (KE5ETX) for details and to suggest topics or offer help! Have a young child in your life? This is a great way to get them interested in the hobby!

VE Testing:? September 23, 2017 – 9AM @ the Allegan Hospital Cafeteria. Price is $15 + two forms of identification or a copy of your current license – Contact Randy MacNeill (W8RMN) for next test session information

Allegan County SAR? – Thursday 8/24, 7pm TBD but most likely Silver Creek

Allegan County ARPSC? – 8/17, 7pm at the EOC. Review Tri-Allegan and planning for NWS Skywarn recognition day. Third Thursday of the month for meetings in the future.

NEW BUSINESS:

Jim signed us up for meetings at the ACATEC for the coming year. June, 2018 may need to reschedule to different location due to school schedule.  June – August.

Receipt for the antenna making project from Jim. $62.43 for the SS hose clamps, pvc fittings and pipe, tape measures. Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS:

Allegan Fair – 12-8, Friday – Sunday. Let Jason know if you can work the booth 12-4 or 4-8 and he can provide tickets.  Tickets are first come first server and are limited.

Motion for up to $150 budget to make new handouts – accepted

Eclipse – HamSCI Eclipse QSO party. Other Eclipse special event stations. Digital (WSPR, PSK31 Reporter).  Eclipse safety.

KD8DKS, Bob Hyde, donated Collins 51s-1 32s1 transmitter and receiver and two microphone(s), power supply and associated cables. Restored/reconditioned. $2400 for the set. Motion to accept the donation carried.

Reminder – If you are about to renew or Join the ARRL our club has a chance to earn some extra money due to our ARRL affiliation. By submitting your membership moneys thru the club – We can keep either $2(renew) or $15 (New or not a member for 2 years) – Bring Your renewals and Check made out to the Allegan County Amateur Radio Club to the next meeting. WB3LHU has the forms if anyone is interested.

Additional Suggestions from 11-APR-2017 meeting included: Darren, through prompting from Shawn, how the inner workings of the radio work – Jim suggested block diagrams. Darren also asked about explaining Propagation. Wes asked about: Digital modes: PSK, JT65, Slow-scan TV. How to setup your equipment.
