10 Meter Net?: Jack (W8PPM) invites all? to the Club Net held every Wednesday evening – 8PM local – Freq: 28.380 MHZ (alternate 28.390 or 28.370 MHZ if busy) Topics of interest welcomed!

“Young Person” Net? hosted by KE5ETX for all hams with children interested in becoming Hams or are already Hams has ended. Thanks to all who participated and a big thank you to the host for volunteering time each month to operate the net. 

VE Testing:? November 25, 2017 – 9AM @ the Allegan Hospital Cafeteria. Price is $15 + two forms of identification or a copy of your current license – Contact Randy MacNeill (W8RMN) for next test session information

Allegan County SAR? – The concert, Oct 6 went well, nearly sold out.  The next meeting is 3rd or 4th Wednesday of the month. TBD. May not have due to concert earlier in the month.

Allegan County ARPSC? – November 16th. 7PM at the EOC at Dumont Complex. Nov 29, meeting with regards to first net State is moving to. Fetzer Center on WMU Campus

Skywarn Recognition Day is coming. December 1-2 at the Grand Rapids NWS

Boy Scout Jamboree, October 21, 9am-4pm – Club is sponsoring refreshments and will have stations and fox hunt running during event. 1-2dz Boy Scouts expected throughout the day. Girl Scouts are welcome too.

Muskegon swap on Saturday, October 21

Kalamazoo swap on Sunday, October 22

Otsego High School Radio Club. Otsego public library. Time and Date TBD
During school year, plan to hold meetings at the high school. Next week Thursday – 3pm, Oct 19

5th District Meeting, 6pm eat/7pm meet, The Crew, Kalamazoo. Oct 16th.

Great Lakes Hamcon – Did anyone go?  Thoughts?
Pretty good turnout. Good venue. 20-25 vendors at flea market area. Flea market was outdoors. Minimum vendors indoors. Plenty of room to expand.

September 23 is trustee meeting after the VE testing – Anything to report? – Trustee meeting was tabled. Will reschedule.

Any information at Silver Sides special event station? – Museam Ships on the Air are usually in September or October. Jim to continue to pursue.

Reminder – If you are about to renew or Join the ARRL our club has a chance to earn some extra money due to our ARRL affiliation. By submitting your membership moneys thru the club – We can keep either $2(renew) or $15 (New or not a member for 2 years) – Bring Your renewals and Check made out to the Allegan County Amateur Radio Club to the next meeting. WB3LHU has the forms if anyone is interested.

Additional Suggestions from 11-APR-2017 meeting included: Darren, through prompting from Shawn, how the inner workings of the radio work – Jim suggested block diagrams. Darren also asked about explaining Propagation. Wes asked about: Digital modes: PSK, JT65, Slow-scan TV. How to setup your equipment.
